The Leça do Balio Monastery is the first headquarters of the Hospital Order in Portugal, and, together with the church, is one of the earliest Gothic buildings in the country of great quality and monumentality.

With some elements of the first Romanesque building, this set shows a plant in U that was the target of several modern and contemporary interventions. With two towers flanking the main facade, the monastery was recovered after its acquisition in 1923 by Ezequiel de Campos that, in addition to restoring the Northern wing and Eastern Monastery, proceeded to the construction of a new part in the southern part by the gothic like.
